Copy Filenames when Folder Selected

When you select the Copy Filenames with Options menu command and one or more folders are selected, then the dialog that appears has a Folder Options section at the top.

Press the Change button to bring up the Folder Options dialog:

The default option (as shown above) is for the folder names just to be copied in the same way as the file names.

Select the Scan folders for sub-folders and files option to also include the files and sub-folders in the selected folder(s).

When you select this option, further options are enabled.

Copy file names only

Only files in the selected folder(s) will be added to the list.

Copy folder names only

The selected folder(s) and any sub-folders in those folders will be added to the list.

Copy File and folder names

The selected folder(s) and any files and sub-folders in those folders will be added to the list.

 

There are also options to include or exclude file names that match a given pattern.  The pattern can contain specific text to match, or * to match any text, or ? to match any single character.  For example, *.txt will match any file with the extension txt.

The depth to which sub-folders will be searched can also be limited by checking the Limit scan depth to box, and setting the maximum depth from the selected folder(s) to search for sub-folders.  Files in a selected folder are at depth 1, files in sub-folders of a selected folder are at depth 2, and so on.
